|Summary||Diasporic Music commemorates Black August, along with Canada, the USA, Cuba, South Africa and other parts of the world. Richmond interviews Halifax, Nova Scotia based poet laureate, teacher, and spoken word activist El Jones. Jones is currently the artistic director of Word Iz Bond Spoken Word Artist Collective. She teaches in the African Canadian Transition Program at Nova Scotia Community College and in the Women's Studies Program at Acadia. Returning to Diasporic Music is Professor Rupert Lewis, editor of Caribbean Political Activism: Essays in Honour of Richard Hart.
