SummaryNorman (Otis) Richmond aka Jalali shines the musical spotlight on Mahalia Jackson, The Queen of Gospel. Jackson would have turned one hundred years old on October 26th. Diasporic Music pays tribute to Alprentice "Bunchy" Carter who would have been 69 on Oct. 12th. Kumasi of the Black August Organizing Committee will discuss the life and times of Carter. When Carter was assassinated on January 17, 1969, Huey P. Newton asked Kumasi to replace Carter as the Minister of Defense of the Southern California Chapter of the Black Panther Party. Richmond will also feature the music of Wolde Semayat aka Peter Tosh of the Wailers.
