Part 1 of the keynote presentation delivered by African People's Socialist Party Chairman Omali Yeshitela at the January 8, 2007 national conference of the African People's Solidarity Committee in Florida. Chairman Omali begins this comprehensive presentation by recounting the terrible conditions and fierce resistance of African people beginning with our first encounter with European slavers. He discusses the contending class and national character of modern philosophies and begins a review of the development of capitalism on a pedestal of the colonial oppression of Africa and the Americas.
