Ajamu Nangwaya, on the current situation in Jamaica

Ajamu Nangwaya, Ph.D., is an educator , writer and an organizer. He is a lecturer in the Institute of Caribbean Studies at the University of the West Indies. Ajamu has over 25 years of experience in community organizing and advocacy. He is a former Vice-President of CUPE Ontario and served as a term as a Vice-President of CUPE Toronto District Council.

Ajamu lived and worked in the American Southeast for four years while working with the Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund. He was a participant at the conference that created the United States Federation of Worker Cooperatives and Ajamu served on its first board of directors.

Ajamu is currently an organizer with the Network for the Elimination of Police Violence. Ajamu writes on topical issues and his writings have appeared in the Toronto Star, Counterpunch, Dissident Voice, Share newspaper, Huffington Post, Global Research,Truthout,Rabble.ca, Briarpatch Magazine, the Black Agenda Report, NOW Magazine and Pambazuka News.
