Hear African Socialist International Chairman Omali Yeshitela's keynote presentation at the weekly Sunday rally of the International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement in St. Petersburg, Florida on January 19, 2015.
Taking place on the day before the federal holiday and annual celebration marking the birthday of King, the them of the rally was "From Martin Luther King, Jr. to Ferguson".
In his presentation, Chairman Omali explains the significance of King in the context of the liberation struggle of African people in the U.S., which began with the first assault on Africa and kidnapping of African people to be enslaved for the enrichment of white society. He criticizes the hypocrisy of black political leaders and preachers in America who use the legacy of King to oppose today's African liberation movement.
He calls for African people everywhere to stand on principle and continue the fight for freedom and self-determination.
