Hear African Socialist International Chairman Omali Yeshitela's keynote presentation to the first annual Minnesota Malcolm X Day Conference, held May 17, 2014, at North High School in Minneapolis. In it, Chairman Omali discusses the significance of Malcolm X to the worldwide African liberation struggle and why the government killed him. He recounts a prior visit to Minneapolis in 1995 to support Malcolm X's daughter in her fight against frame-up charges that she plotted to kill Louis Farrakhan for his role in her father's death. During that visit, the Chairman witnessed the heavy-handed police presence at the opening of the Panther movie in Minneapolis. In this presentation, Chairman Omali explains the basis for the oppression of Africans in the world today and lays out a strategy to win freedom and independence.
