October 2015 will see a series of historic events in Oakland, California that will advance in great leaps the African People's Socialist Party's program for economic development, key component in the Party's strategy for African liberation and self-government. The grand opening of Uhuru House's new Akwaaba Hall will take place October 9th. On October 10th, Uhuru Furniture will open its new expanded store and on October 11th Akwaaba Hall will be the site of a forum entitled "African Working Class - Push for Economic Development." In anticipation of these events, we bring you a replay of African Socialist International Chairman Omali Yeshitela's presentation at Commemoration Day, Sunday, April 6th, 2014, honoring the lives of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and "'Lil" Bobby Hutton, who were both killed in April of 1968 in the midst of the struggle for African community political and economic self-reliance. Commemoration Day was part of a series of events held at the Oakland Uhuru House in April 2014 for the purpose of establishing ongoing economic development and self-reliance programs, including a Health Fair where practitioners offered health and wellness workshops, clinics, and information sessions, followed by a ceremony to re-open the Uhuru House Garden Project.
