"Stop the Theft of Black Homes, End Mortgage Foreclosures 'Re-Development' in the Black Community" We felt it was necessary to hold this event because of the crisis of gentrification that is impacting Black neighborhoods in DC and throughout the world - where our homes and property are being taken over by greedy, parasitic "re-developers", banks and the city itself. These forces often work with corrupt politicians in City Hall, who lobby for unfair real estate tax policy that serves the interest of the banks and the developers, while giving the city the ability to confiscate our homes. The African community suffers from this system. InPDUM DC Branch President Aaron Oneil will interview Kalfani Ture and Nella Peterson, both members of the communtiy, to provide some practical solutions and information to help the people fight exploitation by the system. InPDUM believes that African people must have the right to community control of housing and all other institutions in our community. We believe that only a government that is controlled by the African community will represent the interests of the African community.
